c/n 6746 XN817 - Contract KU/K/031
8 May 1961 first flight.
The history of this aircraft is a bit of a mystery. In Jim Halley's book (Royal Air Force Aircraft XA100 to XZ999 dated 2001) Records, that first went to the Ministry of Aviation (MoA), was later converted E Mk.1, to be operated by 115 Squadron. It was then passed (or was sold to) the Ministry of Technology on the 21st of May 1970. However in an article by Paul Jackson (Aviation News 20/01/78) it is reported to have been operated by AWA and A&AEE up until that date. What we do know that it was damaged beyond repair when the undercarriage collapsed on landing at RAE West Freugh on the 1st of October 1984 while operating with A & AEE B Squadron. Finished it's life on the fire dump at West Freugh.
